GOD ALWAYS WINS
Then Hannah prayed and said: "My heart rejoices in the LORD; in the LORD my horn is lifted high. My mouth boasts over my enemies, for I delight in your deliverance."
1 Samuel 2:1 (NIV)
Hannah knew what it meant to fight a battle. Her battle wasn't just with Peninnah; it was with the shame, disappointment and pain that came with years of unanswered prayer. Yet when Hannah finally prayed, she recognized something important: the battle belonged to God. Hannah prayed to the Lord of Hosts—the Lord of the mighty army. She understood that her battle was bigger than the person who was provoking her. Peninnah may have been the one speaking the words, but Hannah knew the real enemy wanted to use those words to weaken her faith and make her question God's goodness.
Hannah refused to surrender her faith. She said, I rejoice in Your salvation. She didn't know exactly how God would answer, but she trusted the One who was fighting for her. Her circumstances had not yet changed, but her perspective had.
Sometimes we fight battles that nobody else knows about. Men can especially understand this. There can be pressure to carry everything without showing weakness. But even the strongest man will eventually face a battle he cannot win in his own strength. That is when we need to remember who fights for us.
One of my husband's favorite songs says, This is how I fight my battles. It may look like I'm surrounded, but I'm surrounded by You. The weapons of God are different than the weapons of the world. Sometimes the greatest act of strength is getting on our knees, praying and trusting God. The blessing of faithfulness is not that we will never face battles. It is knowing that we don't face them alone. The Lord of Hosts fights for His people.
You may feel surrounded today. You may be facing a battle in your marriage, family, finances, career or your own heart. But remember: what looks like a losing battle to you is never beyond God's ability. Keep praying. Keep trusting. God always wins.
APPLICATION: What battle are you trying to fight in your own strength? Surrender it to God today. Get on your knees, name the battle before Him, and choose to trust the Lord of Hosts to fight for you.
PRAYER: Dear Father, remind me that I do not have to fight my battles alone. You are the Lord of Hosts, the mighty warrior who fights for Your people. Give me the strength to stand, the faith to trust, and the courage to surrender every battle to You. Amen.
