Brookwood Church partners with Set Free to bring hope and transformation to communities in India and West Africa through two key efforts: rescuing children and providing clean water.

In India, over 100,000 children have been rescued from slavery or abandonment. Some have been reunited with their families, while others are cared for in loving homes, village churches, and a central campus. Through monthly support from Brookwood, these children receive food, shelter, education and Christian discipleship, offering them a future filled with hope.

At the same time, Set Free addresses the urgent need for clean drinking water. In many villages, families rely on hand-dug wells contaminated with disease, leading to severe illness. Each new water well offers clean, safe water—and opens the door for the gospel to be shared. These wells often lead to new churches and transformed lives, especially among the marginalized who find dignity and equality in Christ.

The Kim’s are members and attended Brookwood for years until they retired and felt God calling them back to Asia to serve others. Dennis and Vania are working with the  Christian Revival Church Association (CRCA)   in Liberia.  Since 2007: 

• Led 325 church planters through 2 years of church planting training in 15 training centers across Liberia.
• Opened the River of Life Center, a Bible college, Teacher's Training College and conference center.
• Launched the Yassah Project. A sustainability project for ladies and CRCAA, where women meet weekly to make purses, bags and Lappa Beads used in jewelry making.

Wolobah Taylor ministers in Liberia at local universities in Monrovia to disciple new believers and Christians alike to go and share the Gospel. Each Easter, the Taylors lead a group into the eastern part of Liberia to share the Gospel in the villages and connect churches to their outreach. Wolobah and his wife also lead “weekend to remember” conferences, as they are called, to minister to couples improving their marriage in Christ.

Tim and Ann Ssemakula started the nonprofit Calvary Medical Center in Kavule, Uganda, about an hour north of the city of Kampala, to meet the medical needs of the people of that area. You can view their website Also, their organization provides a team to drill wells for cleaning drinking water.

Matt and Mary Patch are working to make a difference in the lives of Kenyan children through holistic care. They work to break the cycle of poverty by filling in the gaps, providing education, and giving hope through Christ to children in Kenya. Matt grew up here at Brookwood, participating in youth and recreation ministries.

Ezra, Ashlan, and Eloree serve with Greater Europe Mission in Kandern, Germany at Black Forest Academy. The Burns family are members at Brookwood Church and plan to arrive at BFA in July 2025 to serve missionary kids and their families. Black Forest meets the educational and spiritual needs of the students who board and attend the academy, while their families stay on the field serving their ministry globally. Ezra has accepted a position to serve at BFA in the engineering and facilities department and Ashlan will volunteer in the nursing office. Our family desires to disciple students and create lifelong relationships pointing to Christ.

Jeremiah and Alex Klinect live and serve in Budapest, Hungary, with Greater Europe Mission. Jeremiah grew up in North Georgia, and Alex grew up at Brookwood Church. Their ministry has two components: connecting with their local community through a Hungarian church and serving global worker families across Europe and beyond with their children's developmental and educational needs. When Jackie was a brand-new Christian, she and the pastor who led her to Christ were praying, and the Lord showed them the verse, Jeremiah 33:16, which says, "In those days Judah will be saved and Jerusalem will live in safety. This is the name by which it will be called: "The Lord Our Righteousness". She did not know what all that meant at the time but years later, when the Lord was calling her and her husband Hernando to start a ministry in the Dominican Republic, they felt the Lord had already given the ministry a name - The Lord Our Righteousness. In Hebrew, it is translated as Tsidkenu, and so was born Tsidkenu Ministries. The Lord has blessed our ministry with 2 acres of land in a rural area called El Cercadillo, just outside of Santo Domingo. On this land we have been able to construct, with the help of our wonderful church partners, two dormitories to house boys and girls. We have a passion to expand our work with children who have disabilities. We believe the Lord does all things for a purpose! So we have faith that he will provide what is needed to do what is in His will.

​Outside the capital city, Santo Domingo, a smoking garbage dump receives tons of trash daily. It is said that over 60 years of garbage rest in this dump, and its community now extends over 50 city blocks. Families who live here make less than one dollar a day picking through waste that ministers spiritually and physically to this forgotten community, including needles, broken glass, and gaseous toxins. Some even find their food here. Disease, child prostitution, child labor, and human trafficking are rampant. The people of La Duquesa build their lives out of the trash. Jackie and Hernando minister spiritually and physically to this forgotten community.

Community Life Centers of Haiti create a unique place that addresses the spiritual needs of the locals, as well as helps build a community that exposes Haitians to the Gospel of Jesus Christ by connecting with and representing them in what they need, want, and hope for.

Travis is from Simpsonville and has been back in this area since 2019 serving in ministry. His wife, Lindsey, is from North Augusta, SC and they met at Anderson University. Lindsey is a 4th grade Special Ed teacher at Belton Elementary. They have a daughter, Annistyn, who is 4. Travis graduated from Hillcrest in 2009 and Anderson University in 2013. Lindsey and Travis did ministry in Anderson for a few years before moving to Simpsonville for a student pastor role. During that role Travis started his involvement with FCA at Hillcrest. That has evolved into currently serving as the Area Rep for this area (southern Greenville).

With FCA, Travis is responsible for Hillcrest High, Mauldin High, Fountain Inn High, and Woodmont High; as well as the middle schools that feed. The goal is to create spaces for students, coaches, and teachers to experience Jesus. Travis does this through school wide gatherings weekly or bi-weekly, team specific Bible studies, Bible studies for teachers/coaches, and mental performance training for athletes.
